Each spring students are recommended by their teachers to audition before an independent panel of judges in mid-May. Those with the highest scores, based on pre-determined criteria, are chosen to perform in the year-end GALA Recital. Those with the highest scores are awarded merit-based scholarships at the conclusion of the recital. Judges for the 2010 -2011 season: Becky Brown, Karl DeBoeser, Donald Spieth.
