Lou Czechowski (Piano):  
  Moravian College, courses in jazz, band scoring, private piano; Berklee College of Music, Music theory- private piano. Mr. Czechowski has been featured on PBS-Tempo; NBC – Today Show Buffalo NY; NPR – Coverage of COTA Festival. Lou has numerous performances to his credit: National Liberty Museum, Penn’s Landing; Academy of Natural Sciences, Diocese of Allentown; 2000 Republican Convention; Mayfair Festival of the Arts; Hotel Bethlehem; Lehigh Country Club, more.
   
   
   
James D. Craig (Piano, Guitar, Double Bass)

A professional composer and performer since 1955, Mr. Craig has created over 100 original pieces in many media and has arranged over 1,000 popular songs for solo and ensemble performance. He has produced and recorded commercial “beds”, pop, and contemporary art music. Two CDs, “Memories of the Future” and “Christmas” were released in 2000 and can be purchased through CMS, some retailers, or online at http://www.jcpi.us/. New CDs are currently being created.

James has written numerous articles on audio, new music, electronics, computers, and associated technology; published in newspapers, journals, and nationally circulated computer group newsletters. Among his published works is “Compass Turning Points”, co-created with internationally renowned sculptor Val Bertoria (1994).

Proficient on many instruments, Mr. Craig spends much time studying, practicing on theremin, and on his custom-made 6-string fretless electric Fantasy Wishbass.

James is an Associate Member of the Audio Engineering Society. He has been a teacher at CMSLV since 1988.

 
Ian Shelly Holmes, II(Piano, Voice)  
 

Mr. Holmes has been playing the piano since the age of two. By the age of seventeen, Ian was directing multi-nation choirs; his name traveling across Puerto Rico, Kenya, and the Middle East. Before too long, Ian’s gift of music made room for him with noted performers such as LP percussionist Candido Camero, Chanquito, and power-producer Loris Holland, among others.

At the age of twenty-eight, Mr. Holmes auditioned for American Idol and landed in Hollywood. Ian and his super talent landed him the number 44th in the competition; selected from over 100,000 other contestants. Among his other activities: traveling with his band and performance (dance and piano) workshops for grade schools and community groups.

Mr. Holmes joins Community Music School Lehigh Valley in fall 2006. We extend a warm and proud welcome to Ian Shelly Holmes, II

 
Carole Houghton (Piano)  
  MM in Music Education, The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.; B.S.M. Manhattanville College. Ms. Houghton received her two-year postgraduate diploma from The Frances Clark School of Piano Pedagogy (formerly The New School for Music Study), Princeton, New Jersey.
   
Martha Maletz (Piano)

Founder and Director Emeritus of CMS; Certified Progressive Series Teacher, St. Louis Institute of Music; Advanced piano study, Professor Williams, Wittenberg College, Springfield, Ohio. Credits received from Cedar Crest College, Allentown, PA and Washington University, St. Louis. Former student of Professor Leroy Lambert, noted Bach Specialist; Freda Berkowitz, Curtis Institute, Philadelphia; Ester Cinberg, Settlement Music School, Philadelphia, PA.

   
Ruth Maletz (Piano, harpsichord, recorder, Early Music specialist)  
 

A student of Freda Berkowitz of the Curtis Institute and Maryan Filar of the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia, Ms. Maletz holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Westminster Choir College, where she studied with Matilde McKinney and William Cheadle. In 1969, Ruth was the winner of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra’s Vorhees competition. As a member of Cambiata Early Music Ensemble, Ruth performs on harpsichord, recorder, and violas da gamba.

David Saturen (Piano, Keyboard, Theory and Composition)

"After establishing a firm foundation, a student has many choices."

DMA. Temple University; M.A. and BA University of Pennsylvania; Composer, arranger, performer in jazz and classical music. One CD and three vinyl recordings of original Saturen compositions have been published. Dr. Saturen is a former Professor of Music at Moravian College and Fairleigh Dickinson University.

 
Mary Schatkowski (Piano)  
 

"One is blessed if he/she can earn a living doing what they love to do."

M.A. in Music Education, Trenton State College: B.S. Susquehanna University. After graduation, Ms. Schatkowski took additional courses at Penn State and Westminster Choir College. Irmgard Smits (Piano, Theory)

Studied piano performance, piano pedagogy and organ at the Akademie der Tonkunst and Hochschule fuer Musik in Munich, Germany. Mrs. Smits is a member of MTNA, PMTA, NFMC, PFML and NGPT. She is certified by and on the faculty of the American College of Musicians.
