Part-Time Music Teacher

Current needs:  Piano (must accompany), cellovoice (private & 6-11 group), bass guitarK-8 group afterschool general vocal/instrumental music (experience in Modern Band, a plus)
 
The specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide quality music instruction on a given instrument to students of all ages
  • Work at a variety of levels teaching different musical skills to individuals or groups 
  • Teach instrumental techniques, scales, sight reading, and music theory
  • Prepare students for music evaluations, auditions, and recitals
  • Piano teachers must also be able to accompany students of other instruments for recitals

Part-time Afternoon/Evening Administrative Associate

This part-time afternoon/evening position requires multitasking; effective customer service skills; accurate data entry and computer skills; professional communications skills; strong administrative skills; an outgoing and positive demeanor; self-motivation and attention to detail; good listening skills; ability to maintain composure in case of emergency; and a passion for the mission of CMS: to successfully provide the inspiration and opportunity for anyone in our diverse community to achieve excellence in music education and appreciate the transformative power of music.

This is an afternoon/evening front desk/receptionist/administrative position, approximately 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the main location of Community Music School at 1544 W. Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA 18102. Days of the week to be determined and may vary from week to week.

The specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Greet and check in/out students and their families when they arrive for lessons; monitor student accounts for timely payment/attendance and process customer payments by cash, check, or credit card; answer phones and email communications.
  • Maintain files and records to ensure all student and financial records are current and accurate. This includes the annual registration forms and any financial aid forms and related documents, as well as student and teacher schedules.
  • Efficiently communicate schedule changes in writing and over the phone with students and faculty members.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS administrative policies and procedures.
  • Secure building at the close of business each day.
  • In case of emergency, lead evacuation of building, account for all students, and notify proper authorities.

Salary Level: $12 - $14 per hour depending on experience
