Pop, Rock, Gospel, Latin Rhythms, Jazz, Blues, Contemporary, and even Classical…CMS has it all and all genres of music are taught by PROFESSIONALS IN THE FIELD.

CMS encourages you to participate in music instruction during the summer. There are several classes from which to choose. CMS also offers private and semi-private instruction throughout the entire year.

SUMMER HOURS/DAYS
Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am – 9:00 pm;
Friday, 9:00 – 4:00 pm;
No Saturday lessons.
CMS WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY, JULY 5TH IN CELEBRATION OF INDEPENDENCE DAY, July 4th.

SUMMER CANCELLATION POLICY
If a cancellation is required, we ask you notify CMS 48-hours in advance, otherwise, your lesson will be charged to your account.
 
REGISTRATION POLICY - SUMMER
CMS will waive the $15.00 group/class registration rate. In addition, students wishing to enroll for fall will be given a discount to the annual registration fee. During our blow-out week of June 13 - 19, CMS rolls back the price of registration. Student: $25.00; Family Registration: $35.00.

PAYMENT TERMS – SUMMER ONLY
Private Instruction:
CMS requires payment four weeks at a time and prior to beginning instruction.
An interview lesson can always be arranged by simply calling 610.435.7725.
 
GROUP OR CLASS INSTRUCTION:

Payment is requested before classes begin. CMS accepts cash, check, Visa, Master Card, Discover, and American Express. A fee of $35.00 will automatically be charged to your account for returned checks. Students will be charged for books, music and or copies of music separately.

Financial and Scholarship Assistance is available for those who qualify. Please make an appointment with the Business Manager to review the necessary paperwork.

The first family member to take private lessons will pay the full tuition price. Additional family members and second lessons (new discipline) will receive a 5% discount. No family discount will be given if financial or scholarship assistance is awarded or if on any other discount program.

Silver Winds – Advanced Flute Choir Camp
Ages: All ages Must be an advanced student to join this summer camp.
Date: July 12 – 16
Time: 9:30 – noon
Instructor: Dr. Nora Suggs
$150.00 per student
High quality performance techniques will be honed during this week of camp. Leadership skills continue with rotation of parts. A Recital will be held at noon, Friday, July 16th.
A minimum enrollment of six students is required for class to begin.
 
 
Flute Choir Camp
Ages: All ages/any level invited to join the group.
Dates: July 26 – 30
Time: 9:30 am – noon.

$135.00 per student
We invite you to participate in our CMS Flute Choir Camp. Learn from the expert in the field. Dr. Nora Suggs will introduce you to the joy of performing music with others. You will learn to play with other flutists while you study everything from Bach to the Blues. There is no audition necessary; placement will be made at the first lessons. Perform before friends and family on July 30th at noon. An enrollment of six students is required to begin the class, so bring your friends and learn to perform together this summer.
 
 
Piccolo Camp
Ages: All ages and levels invited to participate.
Date: July 12 - 16
Time:12:30 – 1:30 pm.
Instructor: Catherine DeBoeser
$90.00 per student
It’s the CMS “Piccolo Boot Camp.” All aspects of piccolo playing including tone, intonation, technique (including hand position and how playing differs from the flute), care of your piccolo, solo playing, band and orchestra playing, duets and ensemble playing, plus playing with other instruments. This camp promises to be fun and a great learning experience for all; plus you will perform at the end of the week in our Flute and Piccolo Recital. Please a minimum enrollment of six students please to begin Piccolo Boot Camp; a first ever offering by the Director of PA Sinfonia.
 
 
Introduction to Improvisation
Ages: All ages, but students must be at intermediate or advanced level.
Date: July 26 – July 29: Four Big Days!
Time: 10:00 am – Noon
Instructor: Ed Rollin

This four-day workshop includes an understanding of rhythm, harmony, orchestration and conduction. You will also explore the sounds of other cultures.
Discussion will be held on different improvisation techniques. Please, a minimum of six students to begin this workshop.
 
 
Saxophone Ensemble
Ages: Intermediate and Advanced Students. Audition for placement.
Need: 8 violins, 2 cello’s, 2 viola’s.
Date: August 9 – 13 (4 big days of learning; performance on the last day)
Time: 10:00 am – Noon

This is going to be an intensive four days of work with a performance on Friday, August 13 at Noon.

All saxophone students: soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone, plus, trumpets and trombones, we want you to join this four-day workshop which will provide you with an opportunity to play with other students while learning fundamental skills essential for playing all styles of music. The repertoire will include many genres of music from classical to pop to jazz.

Join the group and discover that the journey to fine performance is just around the corner. Cliff’s vast performance experience will guide you to be the best you wish to be. Hurry, sign up today and you will be performing at a music festival plus there are many other opportunities for performance throughout the school year. Saxophone Camp
Ages: Beginners
Need: 8 violins, 2 cello’s, 2 viola’s.
Date: August 9 – 13 4 big days to begin your saxophone journey.
Time: 9:00 - 9:45 am

Do you really want to learn how to play the saxophone? Well, this is the camp that will get you started on your way. Join instructor and professional musician, Cliff Tracy, as he gently guides you along. Once you have learned the basics, you may audition to become a member of the CMS Saxophone Ensemble and perform throughout the community. We promise it will be loads of fun; so, bring friends and sign up for this great saxophone camp! Minimum five students required for camp to begin.

 
 
Only Oboe!
Ages: All

What is the oboe? How does it play? Join, Ed Rollin, expert on Oboe, Oboe d’Amore, English Horn, more. Ed, currently on the CMS faculty, has toured Europe, South East Asia and throughout the United States performing both classical, new wave, and improvisation.
 
 
Piano Jazz – Learn In the Presser Piano Lab
Ages: Knowledge of chords a must.
Date: June 21 – 24; 4 Big Days
Time: 1:00 – 3:00 pm

If you love jazz, and want to learn more in order to perform, than this is the program for you. Let composer/arranger and jazz professional, Dr. David Saturen, teach you improvisation in traditional jazz styles. We welcome ALL students of PIANO. It’s June and there is plenty of Jazz! Minimum enrollment of six students to begin.
 
 
Vocal Class
Ages: Ages 8 – 12
Date: July 19 - 23
Time: 10:30 – 11:30 am.

Students will learn the fundamentals of good singing while having fun through group activities and games that develop note-reading and ear-training. All the while, preparing songs to sing at the end of the week in a recital for friends and family on Friday, July 23 at 11:00 am. Minimum enrollment: five students to begin the class.
 
 
Vocal Workshop
Enroll for one or two weeks; a performance is planned for Friday, August 13 at noon. Join our own ‘Idol’, Ian Holmes, for two great weeks of singing.
We promise this is going to be BIG!
Ages: 8+
Date: Wk I: August 2 – 6 Wk II: August 9 – 13

$125.00 per week/Per student. If signing up for both weeks: $230.00 total.
Join Ian Holmes, American Idol 44th runner-up, season four, helps you to SING OUT and be a part of this fun workshop. Experience the recordings of professionals; expand your knowledge of repertoire and several styles of music. Sign up for one or both weeks. Performance is the culmination of all you have learned on Friday, August 13 at Noon . Minimum enrollment of eight students is required to begin each week of vocal workshops. Many of the students from last summer have enjoyed performing with Ian and the CMS Vocal Ensemble FUSION during the school year. This year it could be YOU!
 
 
Latin Percussion

6 Big Weeks of Latin Rhythms!
Learn to play different conga patterns, rhythms and hand techniques with the expert in Latin music. A minimum of eight students are required for class to begin.

Music, the power to facilitate learning and skill-building for all children. This group is especially structured for children with special needs. Let’s have fun in a social environment while remaining engaged and on-task. Five days each week; take one or both weeks. A presentation will occur at 3:00 pm on Friday, July 23 - all groups are welcome to perform what they have learned.

Each day of the week we cover a different character trait. Each character trait will be emphasized through group and solo composition and performance. No previous musical knowledge is necessary. We will sing songs relating to different traits; we will dance and we will act our some of those traits. At the end of the Camp we will have a presentation for our family and friends.
How best to learn about good character; become a role model for your friends plus have fun while we learn. This is a first ever opportunity – hurry and enroll today.
 
 

Rock Rehearsal: Let's get the band together!

Ages: Intermediate and Advanced Students

Tuition: $ 128.00 per student

Study the fundamentals of playing Rock n' Roll with songs from the 60's through today alsongside other students with the ultimate goal of performing. Students pick the songs they want to learn and play with others in a fun, and interactive group.
Calling drummers, bass, guitars, and vocals to this class. Learn from Graham Watson, drummer for Stab the Matador from 2005 - present, who has had music featured in MLB 2006 The Show for Playstation 2 and has recorded with Jeff Saltzman, producer for the band The Killers. Be inspired to rock on! A minimum of six students are requried for this class to begin.
