Monday – Friday: 9:00 am – 9:00 pm

 
Always available: Private, semi-private instruction in nearly every instrument and voice.
Registration Fees
Required: Your annual registration fee and payment is due before ANY instruction begins. Tuition is billed every six weeks.
Registration Fee: $35.00
Family Registration Fee: $50.00
Group Registration Fee: $15.00
 
Payment
Cash, check, or Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express are accepted. A FEE OF $30.00 WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE CHARGED FOR RETURNED CHECKS. Arrangements may be made through the Business Manager for automatic tuition payments.

FLUTE CHOIR
All Ages

First Session begins: Thursday, September 10
Time: 5:30 – 7:00 pm

Instructor: Dr. Nora Suggs
We invite you to participate in our CMS Flute Choir. You will experience the joy of performing music with others. Learn to play with other flutists while you study everything from Bach to the Blues. Learn leadership skills through the rotation of parts.
No audition is necessary; placement will be made at the first lesson. CMS requires a minimum enrollment of six students for the class to begin, so bring your friends and register today. There will be a maximum of fifteen students per class. Six weeks of great flute playing!

MUSICAL IMPROVISATION
Ages: 9+

Begins: Tuesday, September 15, 4:00 – 5:00 pm

Instructor: Clifford Tracy
Brass, woodwinds, and piano students learn the art of improvisation through the study of jazz performance techniques, such as soloing through chord changes, and the study of music theory and its vital connection to improvisation. Students will reinforce their studies with “break-out” sessions and group improvisation. Please, a minimum enrollment of six students for each session to begin.

SAXOPHONE ENSEMBLE
Ages: 10+

Begins: Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 4:00 – 5:00 pm

Instructor: Clifford Tracy
We promise this class will begin your journey to fine saxophone performance and it is a great launch pad toward ensemble performance.
We will learn basic skills, note reading, learn some history and theory, plus, do lots of playing! Please we request an enrollment of six students to begin each class.

PERCUSSION GROUP
Ages: 10+; some experience required

Session Begins: Monday, October 21
Time: 5:30 – 6:30 pm

Instructor: Jon Maury
Analog to digital recording techniques changed the music industry.
This class will help students to participate in the “percussion sections” which were so predominant in the 60’s and early 70’s recording sessions, producing so many classic hits in Rock, Latin, Jazz and commercial music. We will breakdown famous recording sessions. There will be handouts for each recording. Student input is encouraged.
Let Jon, former CBS contract percussionist (Columbia Studios) take you on the percussion journey. Please, CMS requires a minimum of six students to begin each six-week session, so tell your friends about this great class! Program is available every six weeks throughout the year. Each session is six weeks in length.

BEGINNER SONGWRITING CLASS
Ages: 13+

Begins: Friday, September 11
Friday: 3:15 – 4:00 pm.

Instructor: Dr. David Saturen
The class introduces or reinforces basic songwriting techniques and music theory used for writing love songs, ballads, R&B tunes, classically oriented jingles and much more. Please, CMS requests each student to have knowledge of basic note-reading before signing up for this class of four or more.

I LOVE TO SING!
Ages: 6 – 8

Begins: Monday, October 26
Monday: 6:00 – 6:30 pm.

Instructor: Meg Deak

The basics of singing, matching pitch and keeping time, plus early reading and listening skills. CMS requires a minimum of six students to begin each session.

I LOVE TO SING ALSO!
Ages: 9 – 12

Begins: Monday, October 26
Monday: 6:45 – 7:30 pm

Instructor: Meg Deak

Learning the basics of vocal production, intonation, harmony, and rhythm. Reading and listening skills are taught. Youngsters learn to sing together. Great fun! Require: enrollment of six students each session.

VOCAL MASTERCLASS
Ages: 15+

Saturdays: Oct. 24; Jan. 30; Mar. 20; June 5
Time: 1:30 – 3:00 pm

Instructor: Rebekah Graver

Love to perform and get immediate feedback from a professional? Come join CMS and faculty member, Rebekah Graver for a vocal masterclass. Performers will sing two pieces of their choice and will receive hands on instruction involving posture, diction, tone, quality, and much more.
Join us for one, two, or all four Saturday afternoons for this opportunity to learn from the expert in vocal performance. Please, we request an enrollment of six students for each class.

SUZUKI GROUP – Violin, Viola
Ages: 3+

Time & Date: Group Sessions are offered throughout the year. Groups meet one time each week; placement is determined by student level of musical expertise. Please call the administration to schedule your group lessons. A minimum of six youngsters are required for any group to begin. Each class is 45 minutes in length; one time each week.

Philosophical Foundation: “Every student has ability, every student is a worthy person, and through the study of music, every student can attain greatness as a human being.”

Once lessons begin you will explore, create and understand music through developmentally appropriate and repetitive activities; all the while creating a musically stimulating environment. Your child learns the skills needed to play the violin in a supportive, encouraging learning environment that is sure to inspire a long-lasting desire to play the violin and encourage working with other group members.

 
EARLY CHILDHOOD ENRICHMENT
 

Research studies’ detail the relationship between arts educations, primarily music-based instruction, and the impact of that education. It is a subject with intrinsic cultural and artistic value and a skill-based activity that nurtures developmental and cognitive aspects for every child. It is believed music instruction is part of a complete education and essential for development.

All classes are under the direction of Pamela Taylor, instructor. All classes are offered on Monday or Tuesday early afternoons. YOU choose the day and time that best fits your schedule. Each session is for six weeks in length, ongoing throughout the season. CMS does request a minimum of six students for each class to begin. Tuition reflects each session.

DISCOVERY
Ages: Infant – 15 months/w caregiver

Monday: 4:00 - 4:20 pm
Tuesday: 12:10 – 12:30 pm

This class offers mom and me activities that help to develop your child’s cognitive, emotional, social, and language skills. A class both fun and lively. Help your baby discover our world of music.

MUSICAL ADVENTURES
Ages: 15 months – age 2 w caregiver

Monday: 4:30 – 5:00 pm
Tuesday: 12:35 – 12:55 pm

Research shows that a young child who studies music often develops proficiency in math, reading and science. Musical Adventures can open a new world to the young child and generate an exciting creative response.

EXPLORATION
Ages: Ages 3 – 4

Monday: 5:00 – 5:30 pm
Tuesday: 1:00 – 1:30 pm

Exploration is designed for active, enthusiastic, and musically inclined children. Activities are integrated with music, vocal development, some storytelling, and movement.
