Supporting Quality Music Instruction
Transforming moments happen each day at CMS.

Research studies detail the relationship between arts education, primarily music-based instruction, and the impact of that education. “It is believed that music education is a subject with intrinsic cultural and artistic value and a skill-based activity that nurtures developmental and cognitive aspects for every child. Benefits of active participation in music have been quantified through specific scientific research. This growing body of research data has helped define music educations benefits as part of a complete education and has provided baseline arguments to move music education back into the core curriculum of public school education.” IMPACT ON AT-RISK STUDENTS ‘More written material is available about the positive effects of participation in extra curricular activities, the arts in particular, and music specifically on at-risk students.’ These studies strongly suggest ‘arts education, particularly for students of economically disadvantaged circumstances, those needing remedial instruction, and the very young, are essential for growth.’ CMS offers various programs to support the needs of all children.

We extend our profound thank you to all of you in our community who continue to help keep the music alive in the Greater Lehigh Valley. We thank the following foundations, corporations, and government agencies for their support. So too, we wish to extend our appreciation to all the individuals who give so generously in support our mission, not the least of which is our CMS Board of Directors.
